Day 1 Santiago – La Tirana We will take the plane to Iquique and will drive by bus to La Tirana, to spend the afternoon enjoying the colourful festivities!
Day 2 Matilla – La Tirana We will hit the road to the settlement of Matilla, visiting the church of San Antonio, with its Baroque bell tower. Lunch will be in a typical restaurant and you will have the change to bathe in the thermal pool. On the way back to Iquique, we will stop in the village of La Tirana to enjoy the religious and folklore festival.
Day 3 Excursion Santa Laura - Humberstone Today we will have some interesting historical excursions in the dry desert; enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of the city Iquique and go to one of the most important patrimonies in architecture.
Day 4 City tour Iquique You will get an insight in the history of Iquique, which played a crucial role during the war with Bolivia and Peru.
Day 5 Iququie – Atacama – Moon Valley Travelling to Atacama; one of the driest places on earth. We will visit Valley of the Moon; product of mineralogical folds that occurred hundred of millions years ago, creating little mountains with strange shapes, which the sunset turns into a lunar landscape.
Day 6 Atacama desert and Lagunas Altiplanicas Being picked up from the hotel in San Pedro, you will stop in Toconao, a traditional Andean village with original architecture, in which you can experience and meeting its people making handicrafts from fine wool. Continue with paddling in the cool stream in Flamingo National Reserve and visits to lagoons.
Day 7 Tatio Geysers and Andean villages You will travel to the highest geothermic area in the Andean Range: the Tatio Geysers. These columns of steam rise to a height of 50 m, surrounded by amazing colourful scenery. After you will visit the village of Caspana, where traditional agricultural and irrigation techniques inherited form the Incas are still used.
Day 8 San Pedro – Santiago Say goodbye to new friends and leave one week of an outstanding time behind us.
