This tour gives you a fascinating insight into Fair trade in Chile, as well as Chile’s cultural and recent political history, and a chance to immerse yourself in its amazing natural scenery.

Day 1 Arrival in Santiago
Depart UK from various airports, arriving in Madrid to catch the overnight flight at midnight. We will arrive in Santiago on Sunday morning.

Day 2 Santiago
Today we will arrive in Santiago. We will meet our guide and transfer to the hotel. After a welcome lunch in the central fish market, the afternoon will be free for those who prefer to recover from their jet lag, or for those who prefer to do some sightseeing around the city. Possibility to join city tour with guide to some of the city’s main attractions.

Day 3 Santiago Remembrance tour
Today we start our programme with a Remembrance Tour, which will give us an insight into the history of Santiago. The day activities will allow you to learn about Pinochet’s regime. After lunch we will visit a fair trade organisation of women who produce artisan products. 

Day 4 Santiago – Curico
After breakfast we will depart on our journey towards the south. In Curico we will visit Fair Trade wine producers; we will learn about their wine production process and taste some wine. We will spend the night in Curico.

Day 5 Curico – Papaya producers
Today we will head out into the countryside towards the coast, to see some producers of Papayas. In the evening we will return to Curico to spend the night.

Day 6 Curico – School – Wild Fruit Collection
Leaving early in the morning, we will continue our journey to the south, to visit a group of organic producers. Then we will visit a small rural school, where children from 6 to 12 years old will invite us as guests into their school with open arms. We will have the opportunity to give them small presents or education material. Later we drive on to our hotel located next to the impressive waterfalls of Salto Del Laja.

Day 7 Salto Del Laja – Yumbel – Temuco
After waking up to a beautiful view and a light breakfast, we will take a short walk to visit the waterfalls of Salto Del Laja before heading to the colonial town of Yumbel. In Yumbel we will visit an Educaction centre, training farmers in sustainable agriculture. Later we head towards Temuco, the capital city of the IX Region, where we will spend our night.

Day 8 Temuco – Mapuche culture – Pucon
Today we will take a short trip around the city of Temuco, where we see our first expressions of Mapuche art and crafts at the city’s local market. A local Mapuche lady will explain us more about the Mapuche culture and gives us a demonstration of how the traditional Mapuche clothing is put on and worn. After this, we will taste a variety of the traditional Mapuche foods. Continuing on our journey to Pucon, we pass spectacular scenery before arriving ready for dinner in one the many excellent restaurants.

Day 9 Pucon
Today we will have a free day, giving us the change to recharge our batteries. We will have the change to take photos of the volcano and lake, making set for some very impressive scenery.

Day 10 Pucon – Valdivia
We will check out of our hotel early and head to near Paillaco, to meet and learn about the producers of blueberries products. In the evening we will head to Valdivia, where we enjoy a meal at the restaurant of the Kunstmann beer brewes, where they produce hundreds of different flavoured beers.

Day 11 Valdivia – Paillaco – Puerto Varas
We check out of our hotel and head back to the district of Paillaco, where we will visit fair trade apicultures. We will be able to learn about their production of honey, the cooperative, meet the workers and then head to the countryside to visit some beekeepers in their local communities. In the evening we will arrive at our base in the colourful lakeside town of Puerto Varas. In the evening you are free to discover the different attractions that can be found in town.

Day 12 Puerto Varas – Petrohue Falls – All Saints Lake – Puerto Varas
The morning will be dedicated to delighting the senses with what nature has to offer in the area. We will stop at the Petrohue waterfalls and after at the All Saints Lake. In the afternoon we will head back to Puerto Varas where you will have a free evening.

Day 13 Puerto Varas – Puerto Mont - Santiago
Leaving Puerto Varas in the morning, on our way to the airport, we will stop off in Puerto Mont; known for its traditional fish and crafts market. Then we will head to the airport, where we will take our flight back to Santiago. The rest of the afternoon will be free. At night we enjoy a farewell dinner, which you will dine and enjoy a show of traditional dances from Chile and Easter Island.

Day 14 Santiago – London
We check out of our hotel and head to the airport, ready to take our flight back to the UK in the early afternoon. We will arrive home in the early morning next day.

Day 15 Arrival London
Today sees us returning to the UK where we will go our separate ways, saying goodbye to new friends.
