The Fundación Solidaridad was founded as a non profit organization in 1990, but already had its origins in 1974, when it started to support the production and sale of handicrafts of political prisoners.
The aim of the organization is to help increasing the income and facilitating the market insertion of people who make an effort to overcome poverty. To improve their quality of life, groups like women’s organizations, youth groups, indigenous groups or family micro businesses are supported. One of the main fields of activity is giving trainings in the following fields: production process, calculation of costs and prices and quality control. Furthermore, the Fundación Solidaridad provides services such as marketing of goods, promotion in Chile and worldwide and organizational advice. The products are sold in 15 countries all around the world.
